The Cottage Escape

In the early days of the Rage Virus outbreak, a small group of survivors—including Don and his wife Alice—sought refuge in a remote cottage on the outskirts of London. Their isolation was interrupted by the frantic knocking of a boy at the door, begging to be let inside. Don allowed him in, but the boy had been followed. Infected humans broke in moments later. In the panic, Alice attempted to help the child, while Don fled. Overwhelmed by fear, he abandoned the group and escaped downriver by boat, leaving behind Alice and the others, who were presumed dead.

A Nation Reclaimed

With time, the infected population began to die off from starvation. NATO forces intervened and gradually restored order. Twenty-eight weeks after the initial chaos, a U.S.-led military presence began re-establishing control over parts of Britain. Under Brigadier General Stone, a designated safe zone—District One—was created on the Isle of Dogs. Refugees and returning citizens were processed and brought into the highly controlled zone.

Among those returning were Tammy and Andy, Don and Alice’s children, who had been abroad during the outbreak. They were reunited with Don, who informed them that their mother had not survived. In truth, Alice’s fate was still unknown to him.

Discovery and Infection

Driven by nostalgia, Tammy and Andy escaped the secure perimeter to revisit their old home and retrieve family photographs. During their unauthorized outing, they were discovered by Sergeant Doyle, a Delta Force sniper. Inside the abandoned house, the children stumbled upon a shocking discovery—Alice was alive. Disoriented and weak, she had somehow endured despite the infection. The children were escorted back to District One, and Alice was placed in quarantine.

Medical officer Scarlet tested Alice and found her to be an asymptomatic carrier of the virus. She exhibited no symptoms but carried the potential to infect others. Don, desperate for closure, visited Alice without authorization. He kissed her, unknowingly exposing himself to the virus. In moments, he was transformed. The infection took hold, and Don violently killed Alice before launching a killing spree throughout the compound.

Collapse of Containment

Don’s attack marked the beginning of a new wave of infections. Soldiers and civilians alike were overrun. As the situation deteriorated rapidly, General Stone issued an order for indiscriminate elimination of all survivors within the zone. Chaos spread as military protocols failed to stop the carnage.

Scarlet, realizing the potential value of the children’s genetic immunity, rescued Tammy and Andy. Together with Doyle and a small group of survivors, they escaped the secure area just as the Air Force launched firebombs over District One. Don, having survived the bombings, continued moving through the ruins of London.

Flight Through a Dying City

As they attempted to flee, the group was targeted by an unhinged sniper, who picked off several of the survivors. Only Doyle, Scarlet, the children, and another survivor named Sam remained. They reached a rendezvous point where Doyle’s pilot friend Flynn hovered nearby in a helicopter. Flynn, citing military restrictions, refused to extract the civilians. As infected approached, Sam desperately climbed aboard the helicopter, unintentionally exposing himself and threatening the pilot.

To protect himself, Flynn used the helicopter blades to eliminate dozens of infected in a gruesome maneuver. He instructed Doyle to continue to Wembley Stadium with the children. Disregarding the order to leave them, Doyle chose to accompany Scarlet, Tammy, and Andy.

Along their route, they encountered a toxic gas release intended to neutralize the infected population. To escape, the group attempted to hot-wire a car. As troops armed with flamethrowers approached, Doyle exited the vehicle and pushed it to start. He succeeded but was engulfed in flames, sacrificing himself.

The Underground Chase

Scarlet guided the children into the darkened London Underground. In the maze of tunnels, they were pursued once more by Don, who remained fixated on his children. In a sudden ambush, he killed Scarlet. Before he could harm Andy, Don bit him. Tammy, forced to act, shot her father to protect her brother. Andy showed no signs of infection but was now a carrier of the virus.

The siblings made their way to Wembley Stadium, where they found Flynn. Though reluctant, he agreed to fly them out of Britain. The helicopter lifted from the remnants of the city, carrying the children and the virus with them.

Epidemic Reborn

Twenty-eight days later, signs of life re-emerged in mainland Europe. A French voice crackled over Flynn’s abandoned helicopter radio, pleading for assistance. Below, infected figures emerged from a Paris Métro station. The Eiffel Tower loomed in the background, a stark reminder that the virus had not been contained. The outbreak had begun anew.
