A Kingdom Changed by Snow
During a relentless snowstorm, a royal birth brought a glimmer of hope to a long-reigning kingdom. A daughter was born to a kind and benevolent king and queen. She was named Snow White, a tribute to the day’s icy beauty. The joy, however, was short-lived. The queen’s health declined, and not long after, she passed away. Left alone, the king sought companionship and married a mysterious noblewoman. Her presence brought uncertainty to the court.
Shortly after the marriage, the king departed to confront a growing threat at the southern borders of the realm. He never returned. In his absence, the new queen assumed control of the throne. Her charm soon revealed its darker nature. An enchantress by blood and vanity by heart, she ruled through fear, taxes, and silence. The nobility stayed quiet. The people suffered in poverty. Those able-bodied were forced into her royal guard. Within the palace, Snow White’s fate remained a mystery. She had not perished, as many believed. She was instead relegated to the role of a scullery maid, toiling beneath her stepmother’s rule.
The Fairest One and the Fall
The Queen’s obsession grew with each passing year. Possessing a Magic Mirror that answered her questions without error, she asked it daily who held the title of “the fairest of them all.” The answer had always pleased her—until one day, it did not. Snow White’s beauty, matured with innocence and grace, had finally surpassed hers.
The Mirror’s response ignited fury in the Queen. That very day, Snow White had encountered a man named Jonathan—leader of a band of thieves—when he was caught stealing food. Moved by kindness, she freed him before his punishment could be carried out. That evening, the Queen summoned her Huntsman and commanded him to kill Snow White. He was to return with her heart in a jeweled box.
Instead, overcome by guilt, the Huntsman spared the princess. He revealed the Queen’s intent and urged Snow White to flee. Terrified and alone, she escaped into the forest, guided only by fear and fate.
The Forest Refuge and a Growing Threat
The darkness of the forest gave way to unexpected refuge. Snow White was led by woodland creatures to a modest cottage hidden deep in the trees. Inside lived seven dwarfs—miners by trade, named Doc, Grumpy, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, Happy, and Dopey. Initially confused by her presence, they were moved by her story and allowed her to remain. She found comfort among them, offering help and warmth in return.
Back at the castle, the Queen’s fury deepened. The Magic Mirror exposed her failure, and the Huntsman was imprisoned. Her guards were sent to retrieve Snow White. Meanwhile, fate reunited Snow White and Jonathan in the woods. Together, they fended off soldiers, their bond strengthening in adversity. Before leaving to search for the king, Jonathan confessed his feelings for her. But his journey was interrupted. Captured and imprisoned, Jonathan was delivered back to the Queen’s dungeons.
Determined to act on her own, the Queen turned to dark magic. In secret chambers, she disguised herself as an old peddler woman and crafted a poisoned apple, cursed to deliver the “Sleeping Death.”
A Curse Unfolds
With the dwarfs away at work, the disguised Queen reached the cottage. Claiming to be a friend of Jonathan’s, she offered the apple to Snow White. The moment it passed her lips, the truth was revealed. The Queen confessed her role in the king’s death before disappearing into the shadows, leaving Snow White lifeless.
The dwarfs returned to find her in eternal slumber. They laid her in a glass coffin, surrounded by mourning and love. Jonathan, having escaped with the Huntsman’s aid, arrived too late. Devastated, he kissed her farewell. His act of true love shattered the curse. Snow White awoke.
With her strength returned, Snow White rallied the dwarfs and the thieves. They marched on the castle to challenge the Queen. A final confrontation brought stepdaughter and stepmother face to face. The Queen offered Snow White a weapon to strike her down, but the princess refused violence. Instead, she reminded the people of the peace and joy that once defined the kingdom. The guards, moved by her words, turned against the Queen.
In a final act of desperation, the Queen struck. The dwarfs and Jonathan’s allies defended the princess. The Magic Mirror, once her ally, now turned on the Queen. It proclaimed that beauty stemmed from kindness, not power. In a frenzy, she tried to destroy the Mirror. As it shattered, her powers collapsed. She turned to glass and vanished into the void, a victim of her own vanity.
A New Dawn
Peace returned to the land. A coronation was held for Snow White, now crowned Queen. Her rule, unlike her stepmother’s, was guided by compassion and unity. She married Jonathan, and together they restored prosperity to the realm.
The kingdom, once shrouded in silence and fear, found its voice again. The rivers ran clean, the forests grew wild, and the people smiled. Snow White’s reign became a story passed through generations—not only of magic and courage, but of choosing grace in the face of cruelty.
