Angela de Marco has spent years trapped in a life she despises. As the wife of “Cucumber” Frank de Marco, a rising figure in the Long Island mob, she is exhausted by the crime, the lavish yet suffocating lifestyle, and the overbearing presence of other mob wives. During a heated argument, Angela demands a divorce, but Frank dismisses the idea outright, leaving her with no escape.
Fate intervenes when Frank is murdered by his own boss, Tony “The Tiger” Russo, after being caught in an affair with Tony’s mistress. At Frank’s funeral, Angela, determined to carve out a new life for herself and her young son, finds herself caught in Tony’s crosshairs. He aggressively pursues her, lavishing her with unwanted gifts and attention, while his suspicious wife, Connie, seethes with jealousy.

Angela’s predicament also catches the eye of the FBI, particularly Agent Mike Downey and his partner Ed Benitez, who have been watching Tony’s operations. Seeing Angela’s interactions with Tony, they assume she may be more involved in the mob than she appears. When Angela moves to a small apartment in the Lower East Side to escape Tony, he wastes no time tracking her down, refusing to let her go.
The FBI assigns Downey to shadow Angela as part of an undercover surveillance operation. As she struggles to find a legitimate job, he watches her every move. When he sneaks into her apartment to plant a wire, he barely escapes undetected. Soon after, Angela lands a job at a local hair salon, and fate brings her and Downey—under the alias Mike Smith—face to face. When Angela invites him out, he finds himself unable to refuse.
Their date takes an unexpected turn when, across town, Tony narrowly survives an assassination attempt. Meanwhile, Connie storms into Angela’s apartment, convinced that her husband is hiding there, only to find Downey instead. With tension mounting on all sides, Angela finally confesses her desire to leave the mob world behind. Downey, unable to resist his growing feelings for her, secretly disables the FBI’s listening devices, crossing a dangerous professional line.
The next morning, Downey’s partner Ed pulls him out of Angela’s apartment, and the FBI raids her workplace. In the ensuing chaos, Angela discovers that Mike Smith is actually Agent Downey. Facing the threat of jail time, she reluctantly agrees to help the FBI build a case against Tony.
Angela plays her part, feigning interest in Tony’s advances to gain his trust. Her efforts pay off when he invites her to accompany him on a trip to Miami. Unbeknownst to them, Connie follows, consumed by jealousy, while Downey and Ed also board the same flight, determined to take Tony down.

Upon arriving at the Miami hotel, Tony spots Downey in disguise. Recognizing him from past encounters, he orders his men to drag Downey to his suite. Angela, caught in the middle, realizes she is in deeper than she ever intended. As Tony’s men prepare to dispose of them, Connie storms in, derailing the situation in a jealous fury. The confrontation spirals into a shootout, with Angela landing a punch that finally takes Connie down just as the FBI raids the suite.
With Tony arrested and later convicted for multiple murders, Angela is finally free from the life that once held her captive. Some time later, Downey seeks her out, asking for a second chance. With her future now in her hands, Angela considers a fresh start—not just for herself, but for something new with him.
