The Little Rascals (1994) Film Plot
Penelope, A. S., & Heckerling, A. (Directors). (1994). The Little Rascals [Film]. Universal Pictures.

Spanky McFarland leads the “He-Man Woman Haters Club,” a group of spirited boys from the neighborhood, united by their no-girls-allowed motto. As president, Spanky takes pride in the club’s undefeated go-kart, “The Blur,” which is set to race in the upcoming annual Soap Box Derby. His best friend, Alfalfa, is chosen as the driver, but when the announcement is made, Alfalfa is nowhere to be found.

The boys soon discover Alfalfa with Darla, much to their dismay. Determined to maintain their club’s rules, the boys try everything to separate Alfalfa from Darla. Their antics escalate, accidentally causing the beloved clubhouse to burn down. Meanwhile, Darla, overhearing some of the boys’ mischief, mistakenly believes that Alfalfa is ashamed of her. Feeling hurt, she begins spending time with Waldo, a wealthy new kid whose father is an oil tycoon.

Spanky and the club punish Alfalfa by assigning him to guard “The Blur” around the clock and banning him from any further contact with Darla. However, Alfalfa is undeterred and repeatedly tries to win Darla back. He sneaks into her ballet rehearsal, writes her a heartfelt love letter (that goes undelivered), and even serenades her, but all his efforts fail.

While the boys focus on rebuilding the clubhouse, they realize they need $450 to buy the lumber. Porky and Buckwheat, the youngest members, reveal they have unknowingly saved $500. When their schoolteacher, Miss Crabtree, discovers their plan, Spanky convinces her to use the money as the prize for the derby, giving the boys another reason to win. However, tension rises when Alfalfa discovers that Spanky was behind his breakup with Darla. The heated argument results in Alfalfa quitting the club.

As the derby approaches, disaster strikes when local bullies Butch and Woim steal “The Blur.” Now, the boys face a double challenge: rebuilding the clubhouse and creating a new go-kart from scratch. With determination, they team up to construct “The Blur 2: The Sequel.” Spanky and Alfalfa reconcile, deciding to race together in the two-seater go-kart, hoping to win both the prize money and the trophy, which will be presented by the legendary racer, A.J. Ferguson.

On race day, Butch and Woim sabotage the competition with dirty tricks, while Waldo also devises schemes to stay ahead, including appearing to kick Darla out of his car. Despite numerous crashes and scrapes, “The Blur 2” crosses the finish line in a thrilling photo finish, with Alfalfa’s signature cowlick literally giving them the edge. Their victory not only secures the prize money but also wins back Darla’s heart. It turns out Darla had kicked Waldo out of his car, not the other way around.

Following the race, Butch and Woim try to start a fight with Alfalfa, but their efforts backfire as Butch ends up in pig slop, with Woim diving in after him. At the trophy presentation, Spanky is stunned to discover that his idol, A.J. Ferguson, is actually a woman. This revelation, along with their experiences, prompts the boys to rethink their club’s rules.

Once the clubhouse is rebuilt, the boys decide to embrace change, adding “Women Welcome” to the club’s sign and inviting Darla and her friends to join. As the film wraps up, it’s humorously revealed that Uh-Huh, one of the quieter members, is capable of saying much more than just “Uh-Huh.” The story concludes with a series of bloopers from the kids during filming, adding a playful and lighthearted finish to their misadventures.
